- Read to your child daily
Reading to your child every day can definitely treat you with literacy rewards. Your child’s familiarity with your read words can increase their memory bank, which makes them easily able to adapt to phonetics and pronunciation techniques.
- Ask questions in between reading
Get your child to interact with whatever it is you’re reading. This way, you’re helping them to make their own words and establish their ability to speak clearly.
- Read in their presence
Reading habits will develop in your child’s subconscious when they see their parents reading in their presence or in their spare time. This makes them see that reading is something good and something they can do later on.
- Help your child spot letters
When you bring your child outdoors, point out letters that you can see around. This way, they will be able to familiarize with the letters more and more. You can also be creative enough by making a game of this at home.
- Don’t forget to have fun
To your child, fun is everything. You can inculcate fun in your reading activities by playing games about what you’ve read, doing pretend plays, or giving rewards for a guessing game.
